A guided tour of the Far West project - Wednesday 2 July

I am writing on behalf of Arnolfini and Plan 9, an independent artist led organisation, to invite you to take part in a special group tour of Far West, our forthcoming multi-artform project, exploring the new relationships that are emerging as the economic centre of the world shifts towards the East. The project includes an exhibition, off-site presentation, performances, film and a range of talks and events.

The tour will start at Arnolfini, on the ground floor in Gallery 1 at 10.30am on Wednesday 2 July. After visiting the exhibition, it will then proceed to the off-site project, the Far West Metro at The Mall Bristol, Broadmead Shopping Centre, which is approximately 10 minutes walk from Arnolfini. We envisage the event will be complete by 12 noon.

Plan 9 originated this tour as part of their participation in the off-site project at The Mall Bristol and they will also accompany the group. Plan 9 has formed a Trade Union to staff the Far West Metro store, so as to explore ideas of trade and exchange within the arts economy in the UK. As part of their project, they will also produce a pamphlet exploring their interaction with the Far West project and may incorporate your views in the pamphlet should you agree.

The invited tour group comprises nine Bristol-based Trade and Investment organisations, community associations, Bristol City Council and others.

The tour will be led by myself and, at The Mall Bristol, by Zoe Shearman of Relational, co-producer of the off-site project.

We would also like to invite you to attend the opening launch of Far West at Arnolfini on Friday 27 June 6-8pm. Please find attached the invitation. We would be delighted to welcome you to an informal buffet from 8pm with the artists and other partners on the Quayside outside Arnolfini.
