Trade Union Tour Invite P9

Dear,

Plan 9, Relational and Arnolfini would like to invite you to a special tour
of Far West, on Wednesday 2 July at 10.30am.

Far West explores the global shift in economies towards the east. The main exhibition is at the Arnolfini, with an off site ‘metro store’ in the Mall in Broadmead.

In response to the exhibition, Plan 9 have formed the Plan 9 Trade Union to staff the metro store – exploring the issues of trade and exchange within the arts economy in the UK.

Plan 9 will be producing a pamphlet exploring their interaction with the Far West exhibition, and are interested in hearing the views of other interested parties, such as yourself.

You will be joined on the tour by other trade and far east community associations, and the tour will be conducted by Nav Haq (Curator of Exhibitions, Arnolfini) and Zoe Shearman (Director of Relational).

We very much hope you can join us for this special event.

Best wishes

Dear Colleagues

Invitation to take part in a Director’s tour of the Far West exhibition at Arnolfini
and off-site at The Mall Bristol, Broadmead Shopping Centre, Wednesday 2 July 10.30am

I am writing to invite you to take part in a special group tour of Far West, Arnolfini’s forthcoming major cross artform project exploring the new cultural and economic relationships that are emerging as the economic centre of the world shifts towards the East. The project includes an exhibition, off-site presentation, performances, film and a range of talks and events.

The tour will start at Arnolfini, in the downstairs gallery at 10.30am on Wednesday 2 July. It will then move to the off-site project, the Far West Metro “franchise store”, at The Mall Bristol, Broadmead Shopping Centre, a few minutes walk from Arnolfini. We envisage the tour lasting around one hour.

The invited tour group comprises nine Bristol-based Trade and Investment organisations, community associations, Bristol City Council and others.

The tour will be led by myself and, at The Mall Bristol, by Zoe Shearman of Relational, co-producer of the off-site project.

Plan 9, an Art Collective participating in the off-site project at The Mall Bristol, will also accompany the tour. It has formed the Plan 9 Trade Union to staff the Far West Metro store to explore ideas of trade and exchange within the arts economy in the UK. As part of their project, they will produce a pamphlet exploring their interaction with the ‘Far West’ project and would like to incorporate your views in the pamphlet if you agree.

If you are able to take part in the tour of Far West on 2 July, please RSVP to my Colleague, Lisa Whiting lisa.whiting@arnolfini.org.uk or call her on 0117 917 2300. If you are unable to attend, please let me know if you would like to nominate someone else within your organisation.

We would also like to invite you to attend the opening launch of Far West at Arnolfini on Friday 27 June 6-8pm. Please find attached the invitation. We would be delighted to welcome you to an informal buffet from 8pm with the artists and other partners on the Quayside outside Arnolfini.

We very much hope you can join us for either, or both, of these events. I look forward to hearing from you.

Trade Union Tour Invite draft 4

Dear Colleagues

A guided tour of the Far West project - Wednesday 2 July

I am writing on behalf of Arnolfini and Plan 9, an independent artist led organisation, to invite you to take part in a special group tour of Far West, our forthcoming multi-artform project, exploring the new relationships that are emerging as the economic centre of the world shifts towards the East. The project includes an exhibition, off-site presentation, performances, film and a range of talks and events.

The tour will start at Arnolfini, on the ground floor in Gallery 1 at 10.30am on Wednesday 2 July. After visiting the exhibition, it will then proceed to the off-site project, the Far West Metro at The Mall Bristol, Broadmead Shopping Centre, which is approximately 10 minutes walk from Arnolfini. We envisage the event will be complete by 12 noon.

Plan 9 originated this tour as part of their participation in the off-site project at The Mall Bristol and they will also accompany the group. Plan 9 has formed a Trade Union to staff the Far West Metro store, so as to explore ideas of trade and exchange within the arts economy in the UK. As part of their project, they will also produce a pamphlet exploring their interaction with the Far West project and may incorporate your views in the pamphlet should you agree.

The invited tour group comprises nine Bristol-based Trade and Investment organisations, community associations, Bristol City Council and others.
